U.S. retailers including Walmart and several clothing brands are racing to secure China-made merchandise for the busy summer shopping season starting in late May after Washington and Beijing agreed to temporarily slash tariffs. The agreement on Monday to lower U.S. tariffs on shipments from China to 30% from 145% for the next three months prompted a restart in orders and shipments for sundresses, bathing suits, clogs and sunscreens from Chinese factories, according to logistics company Portless, which helps U.S. e-commerce brands import goods from China via air.

Deutsche Telekom reported first-quarter core profit slightly above analyst expectations on Thursday and nudged up its full-year guidance, helped in part by a stronger dollar. The Germany-based telecoms group reported quarterly adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation after leases (EBITDA AL) of 11.3 billion euros ($12.7 billion), up 7.9% year-on-year. Analysts had forecast core profit of 11.1 billion euros in a company-provided poll.
ZURICH (Reuters) -Siemens still expects to increase its full-year sales by between 3 and 7% "despite increased uncertainty", the German engineering group said on Thursday, as it reported better-than-expected profit during its second quarter. The company, whose products include factory software, controllers and trains, said its industrial profit rose 29% to 3.24 billion euros ($3.63 billion) in the three months to the end of March. As a result, Siemens confirmed its outlook for its full-year sales to increase by 3-7% despite seeing "increased uncertainty in the economic environment".
